On April 12, my daughter Libby and I got on a plane, and headed East to FRANCE. I know, can you believe it?? Really, for me the trip of a life time. I have hardly traveled in the US, a few times to Mexico and Canada but that's it. So, with about 6 months of planning, studying maps and travel books, listening to French language online classes, we were off across the ocean!!
we left Seattle about 9:00 in the morning, and when we arrived in Paris after a 12 hour journey, it was 9:00 the next morning. So, basically very little sleep, but we were so excited. We navigated the bus into the city, and then the metro (subway) to our apartment.
Not all the metro stations looked like this one, but this was our first!
Our apartment was in the 15th arrondissment, about a mile from the Eiffel tower. Here's the view from our lovely little deck:
We went out and wandered around for the afternoon, just taking in the sights and smells, amazed at everything. We were in quite a daze from lack of sleep, but here are some of my first impressions:
Beautiful bakeries everywhere!
The huge statue in the city center where you walk across the Seine.
Beautiful door decorations.
You can see I am running out of adjectives. The first evening we were so tired, we ate sushi from the grocery store and went to bed at 7:00. More to report tomorrow.
Meanwhile, here in Kitten Britches land, I am busy catching up on sewing and machine quilting. Spring is rushing on toward summer, my entire garden has gone bonkers with the warm days and rain.
Here's my favorite rhododendron blooming now.
